As part of our How to Get an Internship series, we teamed up with VT ALPFA to host a Negotiating Offers workshop. It was a spooktacular event where we tackled the scary side of job offers—negotiation! This session was all about empowering you to confidently evaluate and negotiate offers. Here’s a recap to help you bewitch your next negotiation and secure fair compensation and benefits!

Key Elements of an Offer Letter

    • Core, fixed pay that varies by experience, location, and role type.

    • Can be hourly, weekly, or monthly depending on the position.

  • Stipends 🕸️

    • Extra financial support for relocation, housing, or travel—no tricks, just treats!

    • Includes sign-on bonuses and performance-based stipends for internships.

  • Benefits 🧛‍♀️

    • Perks like insurance (medical, dental, vision), vacation/PTO, and discounts on food, electronics, and entertainment.

    • Memberships for gyms or educational resources to keep you from turning into a work zombie.
